- How often should backups actually run?
- It depends on your recovery-point objective — how much data you can afford to lose if something fails. We set backup frequency against that number, not a generic nightly default that may not match your real risk tolerance.
- How do we know our backups will actually work if we ever need them?
- By testing recovery on a schedule, not assuming it works because the backup job reports success — a successful backup and a successful restore are two different things, and we test both.
